We'll shear just a few this time- 3 big rams and five of the angora goats. (We've returned to our traditional spring shearing time for most of the sheep). Lots of fiber and yarn for sale- naturals & glorious colors. There'll be food to taste and demonstrations of skirting, spinning, weaving and needle felting. And we'd love to have you try any or all of these yourself! Lots of animals- including angora rabbits- to visit. We'll end the day (about 5:00 with a herding demo. No charge, but donations for farm scholarships are always welcome. The actual shearing will happen right at 10:00- and it won't take Gwen long to shear just 8.

  Making Soap 26 November 2017
1:00 PM - 5:00 AM
26 November
Learn to make soap from both animal and vegetable fats in an afternoon. For anyone twelve or older (we work with lye), we'll make several batches of wonderful and long-lasting soaps. (All of this started 25 years ago when we wanted to make something useful from the fat from the pigs we'd raised- we've kept doing it because we really like the soap.) You'll take home samples and also recipes so you can start right away to make more. Workshop is limited to four participants.
